Designing your own handmade Easter card is great fun! Easter offers cute motifs like chicks and bunnies and with a little creativity you can create real works of art.
I usually spend Easter with my family. For me, Easter and Christmas are first and foremost family celebrations. Sometimes, however, a lack of time, the job or an unpredictable event like last year’s Corona virus throw a spanner in the works. Quarantine! Plans to meet all one’s loved ones, to dine together or even to travel across Germany for family visits fall through. So it is all the more important for me to send my loved ones at least a beautiful Easter greeting, to be close to them at least in this way.
For my Easter greeting, I would therefore like to design the Easter card myself. For crafters, one of the great things about Easter is definitely that there are so many easy-to-implement, yet beautiful and meaningful motifs. Spring flowers, bright eggs, bold colours and of course baby animals! Chicks, bunnies and the Easter lamb are at the top of the list.
So, spread out your craft supplies and make your own Easter card! You can find all the materials I used to make my Easter card on the material list*.
Duration: 20 minutes
I cut out the large Easter egg from cardboard with a spring motif. If you have children, this is a great way for them to create their own Easter card! Simply cut out a large egg from white paper and cover it with Washii tape. Or use watercolours and a paintbrush to make blobs on it!
First draw the large Easter egg in pencil on the back of the motif card and then cut it out. It should take up no more than 2/3 of the card area. Then place a bunny on the back of the Easter egg, generously outline it and cut out the outline. You can also use nail scissors for this. Now glue the Easter egg onto the card and make sure there is enough space under the egg for the letters.
Now stamp “Happy Easter” under the egg. Once the ink is dry, trace the letters with black Stabilo, hatch them and fill them in with dots.
Now glue the bunnies onto the egg with the hot glue gun (the addressee of my card was pregnant, so the little bunny is symbolically placed in the middle of the egg) :-).
Tie a bow with the white satin ribbon and stick it on the upper third of the egg.
Now I just added a border of dark green washi tape on the right and left side and a border of light green washi tape on the inside of the card.
Have fun designing your own Easter card!
