Sweet or savoury: the main thing is delicious! A romantic breakfast in bed can be refined and delicious, yet quick to prepare. 3 recipe ideas to try out.
First things first: You can’t really go wrong with a romantic breakfast in bed! No person or partner in love is not happy like a snow king when they open their eyes, the smell of fresh coffee hits their nostrils and they are surprised with a breakfast that suits their taste exactly. The important thing is that you don’t have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen and still conjure up something delicious. I prefer to prepare everything myself instead of using ready-made products like meat salad from the butcher – but for a romantic breakfast in bed it should be quick in the morning, after all, you want to be done with the preparation before your sweetheart opens his eyes, otherwise the surprise is ruined.
That’s why I prepare ingredients like the batter for the buttermilk pancakes the night before – then I just have to bake them in the morning. And I also like to use good salads from the fresh food counter and bake rolls, pretzels and croissants myself in the oven.

In gastronomy, we distinguish between 4 breakfast types, each of which has a different type of breakfast that makes their heart beat faster. The classic breakfast person likes a mix of sweet and savoury, then there is the hearty person who likes it hearty, the sweet breakfast person and the non-breakfast person. Except for the breakfast muffin, you’ll find one of my favourite recipes for each of these types here. They are quick to prepare, taste delicious and are something special. 🙂
A mixture of sweet and savoury bites that you eat together like at a picnic at breakfast in bed. Everything should be cut into bite-sized portions! For a crunchy savoury pastry, you can bake the puff pastry buns and pretzels in the oven while you cut the appetisers.
For breakfast, you’ll need lots of little bowls filled with fruit and vegetable bites cut into bite-sized pieces. Serve with Obazda, freshly baked pretzels and Waldorf salad. You can buy Waldorf salad ready-made or prepare it the night before.
For the puff pastry snails, roll out the puff pastry. Leave about 1 cm free along the long edge of the pastry and spread the rest evenly with the herb crème fraiche and sprinkle with the ham cubes and grated cheese. Now roll up lengthwise and cut off slices about 2 cm thick, place on a baking tray and bake at 180° convection oven for about 15 minutes together with the pretzels.
While the pastry is baking, cut the fruit and vegetables into bite-sized pieces and place in bowls. Put the Obazda and Waldorf salad in a small bowl and sprinkle with chives.
Tip: It’s even quicker if you prepare the coated and rolled-up puff pastry roll in the evening and chill it in the fridge.
For those who love a hearty breakfast, an egg – scrambled, omelette or fried – is a must. Tastes super delicious in combination with crunchy rocket salad, serano ham and herb cream cheese.
Tip: Toast the bagel before spreading the cream cheese on the grill of the toaster.
Finely chop the onion and dried tomatoes, sauté in oil and season with pepper and salt.
Beat the eggs with 3 tbsp milk and pour over the vegetables. Allow to set at a low temperature.
Cut the bagel open and spread both sides with herb cream cheese. Put 1/4 of the omelette on each bagel, sprinkle with chives, place 2 slices of Serrano ham on top and a few ruccola leaves. Place the lid on top and arrange decoratively on the plate with a few ruccola leaves.
In the morning it should go fast! That’s why you should make the batter for the pancakes the night before and chill it. I also prepare the curd cream in advance. That way, all I have to do in the morning is wash the blueberries and bake the pancakes out.
Tipp: If you like your pancakes really sweet, you can sweeten them with maple syrup at the end.
Melt the butter in the microwave while mixing the milk and baking powder and salt. Add the eggs, buttermilk, butter, 2 tbsp sugar and mix in a food processor until fluffy. Chill in the fridge overnight – just stir in the morning.
Mix the quark, lemon zest, 3 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp vanilla sugar. Whip the cream until stiff and fold in. Die Creme abschmecken und wenn gewünscht nachsüßen.
In the morning, bake out the pancakes and layer 2-3 alternately with the curd cream, depending on how hungry you are. Finally, place the blueberries on top and add mint, maple syrup or icing sugar decoratively.
