My absolute favorites when it comes to celebrating a birthday in a different way are all interactive! Because for me, one thing has never changed since my childhood birthdays: the best birthdays for me were the ones where we had an adventure together or something creative was created. My mother was in this regard the madness – actually every birthday was a theme party, there were matching games, scavenger hunts, rallies or we built something, carved, tinkered. And that was because parents had lovingly prepared the birthday – with games, as a theme party, or a special experience like going mini-golfing, to the trampoline hall, to the indoor adventure playground. At some point, most people stop doing that and instead you sit together comfortably at home or in a pub and talk. That’s nice – but nothing special. 5 Unusual Ideas for Alternatives to Birthday Parties

My ideas are not hierarchically ordered! But I’m interested in which idea you like the most or what you are missing and I’m looking forward to your comment! 🙂

1. Birthday Party as a Culinary Voyage of Discovery

• Number of people: 2-20

Indulgence is the name of the game here. There are in every city (and in any case in every region of Germany) culinary delicacies that are typical for them. And that’s what it’s all about – discovering them!

If you want to celebrate your birthday party in a city, take the train there together and pick out some typical food and drinks on the Internet. Then walk through the city, feast, taste, compare and discover what it has to offer. My friends were very enthusiastic about this times quite differently designed birthday party in Leipzig and Regensburg.
In the wine regions of Germany, you can also go on wine walks and hike from winery to winery. I know wine hiking trails in the Palatinate and in Baden Würtemberg (Sasbach-Walden). Here you can get an overview of where there are wine walks – unfortunately I haven’t discovered a better site yet.

In Bavaria, however, there was a culinary hike for me that is hard to top: the beer hike! Since there is a high density of breweries in Bavaria, it is the Eldorado for every beer lover – but beer hiking trails also exist in Cologne and elsewhere, for example. On the website of the German Brewers Association there are some listed! Top tip: the Five Seidla Trail in Franconian Switzerland!

Do you know Schnapsbrunnen? Sounds like bachelor party and 18th birthday, but is a tradition in the Black Forest. Because there, every hiking troop while hiking always comes across cattle watering holes or beautifully lined up noble brandies with a donation box to strengthen in between. While hiking, the mood rises almost by itself. 🙂

I can only recommend the mill hike near Ottenhöfen in the Black Forest! Great old mills and good drops to discover!

2. Creative Alternative to Birthday Parties Party With a Workshop

If you ask me, being creative together is something of the most awesome there is! Especially when you make nails with heads and learn a skill together, which you always wanted to be able to. As a plus, you build, forge, sew, sculpt or chisel a keepsake – preferably something you’re dying to have.

No preparation required: for this, you book a class for everyone on the birthday. That can go into the purse, but does not have to. You can also ask around beforehand who would like to do a course with you as a birthday event in making chocolates, jewelry, sewing, building a table and pay for it yourself as a birthday gift, so to speak, that you do it together.

Adults crawl on all fours through the bushes and explore with shining eyes dilapidated factory buildings: the geocaching fever has seized them. Go on a treasure hunt and use the GPS to find a treasure that someone has hidden: that’s geocaching. Makes tremendous fun and is perfect if you want to celebrate his birthday times differently and children are present.

Geocaching can be done outside in nature as well as in the city. Because everywhere in Germany there are hidden treasures to lift – you just have to pick one of these GPS scavenger hunts. Treasure hunts and scavenger hunts – aren’t they actually the same thing? Nope! With the one, there’s treasure waiting to be discovered at the end, and with the scavenger hunt, not necessarily.

4.Go On an Adventure Together

Who ever wanted to slip into the skin of Indiana Jones or James Bond and solve tricky puzzles, crack codes, find secret doors, lift lost treasures and master a mission? And all that in just 60 minutes. Together with your guests. In cool designed worlds, where you immediately leave your everyday life behind and have a lot of fun together.

I confess to being a escape game fan. And I’m not alone – who has started once with the Escape Game play the does not stop so quickly. 🙂
