We tested an Escape Game and left the earth for it. In the Space Escape Berlin at Mission Accepted, we set off on a space adventure with the mission: save the Earth!.
Unfortunately, we died during the mission itself. At least in the game. After playing other Escape Games like Sherlock Holmes and as a burglar in a liquor store, we will be testing many more escape games in the coming weeks and reporting on the best escape games in Berlin at Abenteuer Freundschaft.
Maybe we were a bit too cocky, because this time we took on nothing less than saving all of humanity! (Who would put such a responsibility in our hands, of all people, is a complete mystery to me, but well… we’re always better than Donald Trump at saving the world! ?)
We played the game Space Escape Berlin at the provider Mission Accepted as a foursome, whereby we were allowed to play two blog authors for free.
The shock still runs deep, the media is full of it. You, dear readers, have surely heard it on the news: a huge asteroid was recently hurtling inexorably towards Earth, threatening to wipe out all life on our planet. After several attempts to blast the asteroid had already failed miserably, the bravest of the brave, the smartest of the smart, the most experienced astronauts were chosen and – unfortunately – they were all prevented. So we were sent instead: four ordinary city dwellers – humanity’s last chance!
As if that wasn’t tricky enough, the only spaceship still available was an old rust bucket. Our mission was clear and simple: launch the spaceship, land on the asteroid, plant the bomb, fly away again and then… pulverise this nasty piece of space debris!!!!
Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? But it wasn’t at all! Especially as we only had one hour left before the big chunk would have put an end to civilisation. And even launching the spaceship proved to be the first major challenge.
Of course, we’ll be damned if we’re going to tell you here what challenge we failed at and had to sacrifice our lives for the good of you all… And it was really close!
According to leading astronomers, quite a few more similar asteroids will be heading for Earth in the near future, and then it might be up to you to take on the Space Escape mission! And it would be a shame if there were no more surprises for you…?
We mastered Space Escape “halfway”, so to speak, because although we succeeded in blowing up the asteroid, we had to sacrifice ourselves for it because we couldn’t fly away in time. Well, for that we now remain in the memory of mankind forever as heroes – that’s something too, isn’t it?
What do you think this switch does??
Unlike other live escape games, in Space Escape you stay in just one room for the whole game, which is the spaceship you are travelling in. However, this room holds many puzzles and interesting things to discover: numerous devices and buttons, screens and levers. Among them a very large red button that would make Donald Trump jealous.
And last but not least, the talking on-board computer, which reminds us a little of HAL 9000 from the film 2001 – A Space Odyssey and stood by us during the mission when we didn’t know what to do.
Here’s a little foretaste:
The space heroes who sacrificed themselves
The story of Space Escape may not be the most original (the film Armageddon sends its regards), but it definitely offers a very atmospheric scenario for an escape game set in space. After the door closed behind us, we were immediately in another world. In which time was ticking far too fast. 🙂
The puzzles are varied and sometimes quite tricky. There were four of us and that was just as well. I would classify the game overall as moderately difficult. We often needed help with a hint, but according to our game leader we were still in the middle of the field of all visitors. Thank God! Honour halfway saved!
Personally, I also found it very cool that there were game phases in which you had to do a lot of things very quickly under time pressure, which definitely gave us a adrenaline rush!
The only criticism: when carrying out some steps, we would have liked some kind of confirmation beep or flash to know if we were on the right track. Sometimes it wasn’t clear to us whether an action had done anything or not.
In any case, we had a lot of fun on our chaos flight through space! ?
