Talking to a ghost is impossible? Nonsense! With a Ouija board you make contact with ghosts, deceased and psychic beings. Provided you follow the rules and ask the right questions….  

The candle flickers, a cold breeze strokes my bare arm with clammy fingers. Then the pointer on the Ouija board moves and my heart starts beating like crazy. It’s the first time I’ve tried such a spirit board myself; until now, I’ve only known it from movies and the fantastic series Penny Dreadful*, set in Victorian England. I’ve always been fascinated by these atmospheric scenes: Halloween, a Halloween party, or a horror movie night provide the perfect setting for a ghost conjuring.

In order for the ghost conjuring to work, it is important to take certain precautions and to stick to some rules. The fun and goosebumps factor definitely stands and falls with the atmosphere! So turn off smartphones, darken the room, light incense sticks and candles or best of all, lay out the Ouija board on a tree stump on a full moon night around Halloween in the fog-flooded forest and start the séance surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

The rules for a Ouija séance are simple. It is important that all participating persons are physically and mentally healthy and have not been exposed to any recent stress such as deaths, pregnancies, illnesses, separations.

And how long does a Ouija session last? You should allow about 15 – 45 minutes for a séance!

Ouija Board – Messages From the Beyond

The Ouija board is a spiritual tool that enables contact with spirits and supernatural beings. The board has many names, it is also known as a witch board, soul recorder or alphabet board. The Ouija board is usually inscribed with the alphabet as well as numbers and various words such as “yes”, “no”, “thank you” or “I go”. In addition, a pointer belongs to it, on which all Sèance participants put at least one finger or the hand. This pointer now moves across the board and marks signs, without anyone consciously influencing and moving it…. 😉

When interpreting the signs, the message from the beyond sometimes reveals itself crystal clear or also confusingly unclear and ambiguous. Most spiritualists agree that the messages come from psychic beings or deceased and are paranormal signals.

7 Precautions That Favor Ghost Summoning

1. The right time of day: No seance in daylight! Starting in the fall, you should start your seance no earlier than 8pm in the dark season, and later in the light season! As a rule of thumb: maximum twilight is fine.
2. The appropriate place: Choose a place for the summoning, which is dark and favors an eerie atmosphere. Be sure to draw the curtains during a séance at home! Ideal places: Ruins or abandoned buildings, dark woods, basements, former cemetery grounds.
3. Food for the spirits: Burn incense and as the only source of lighting candles on, on the smoke the spirits feast. Smartphones and disturbing noise sources simply turn off,
4. Position of the Ouija board: Put the board on as flat a surface as possible (table center or tree stump, etc.) in your center, everyone must have a good view of the witch board and reach the pointer well with one hand.
5. The session duration in view: To keep the 20 – 40 minutes for a session in view, use an incense stick (burning time) or an hourglass to set the period.
6. Questions ready?: Clarify before the seance, what questions you want to ask the spirit beings. Note them best on a piece of paper and put it with pen ready to write down the answers during the seance as well. Duplicates will be sorted out and the questions sorted by relevance in advance.
7. Who is the medium? Determine one with as close a connection to the spirit world as possible to talk to the spirit. He or she should be able to act as confidently as possible in unexpected situations and ideally have experience in consulting oracles.  It should sit as central as possible before the Ouija board and the hand of the medium lies completely to underneath on the pointer. She is the only person who speaks during the person!

Summoning With the Ouija Board: The 7 Rules

You can never operate a Ouija board alone! It requires at least two people and the procedure of each seance is identical. Ask the questions as precisely as possible and the most relevant questions first! Additional questions can be asked only by the selected person.

During a seance, no cigarettes should be smoked and no alcohol should be drunk. Chatter, giggles and debates destroy the mood and drive away the spirit and should be avoided or lead to the termination of the seance!

1. The medium or the selected person who communicates with the spirit puts his hand on the marker first
2. All present place at least one finger on the marker. Every mark on the board must be easily accessible to everyone.
3. The medium begins by asking opening questions for example, “Is there a spirit present?” Would you like to contact a particular spirit / deceased and is in a place that favors contact, it is advisable to address this spirit directly.
4. Most of the time it takes a while until the pointer on the Quija board begins to move, do not become impatient!
5. Once you get the first answer, be sure to ask if it is a benign spirit! If so, continue!
6. If the spirit answers negatively to the question about its disposition, be sure to break off the session!
7. The séance with the Ouija board ends when the time is up (hourglass has run through / incense has burned down). The medium thanks the spirit being, you say goodbye and the seance is over!
